EPIC Healing Eugene’s Radiant Heart Facilitator Team offers a balance of Heart-centered and Scientific approaches to help clients get the most out of their sessions. Our service delivery model offers free on-going support to clients as they explore their Personal Growth with depth and self-compassion: before, during, and long after each facilitated psilocybin session.
Cathy Rosewell Jonas, LCSW, Licensed Facilitator, and founder of EPIC Healing Eugene was granted the first psilocybin service license in Oregon - May 5, 2023. We saw our first clients in June of 2023. Cathy brought years of professional mental health experience and decades of embarking on her own personal growth path, which inspired the creation of our extensive services. Three years later, we’ve built a beautiful program of service and long-term support for clients that come to us.

What do we offer? What makes us Unique?
Our Radiant Heart Facilitators take turns facilitating our eight ongoing monthly groups that are optional and offered online. Clients never need to pay extra for these supportive groups, as they are included in all of our psilocybin services. It’s a space where clients can share freely, learn from others, and be supported in their lives, keeping the integration process alive. Our skilled facilitator team comes from varied backgrounds: Licensed therapists, Nursing, Special Education, Transpersonal Coaching, and Science-Based.
Our organization makes an on-going commitment to those who come to us, which aligns with our passion of supporting people in their personal growth. Doing so requires a dedicated time commitment for our staff and financial resources to sustain the ongoing services and support we provide all clients that come to us. We greatly appreciate any donations to our Pay-It-Forward (PIF) Fund to help serve more people, which in turn helps us keep EPIC / Radiant Heart’s extensive program of support and quality services going. Thank you.

EPIC Trivia Questions:
Trivia Question #1. What does EPIC stand for?
Answer: Eugene Psychedelic Integrative Center.
History: EPIC started out as a Ketamine Assisted Therapy Clinic in 2021-22. EPIC opened up as a psilocybin service center in 2023.
Trivia Question #2. Are you Curious about the difference between milligram dosages and gram dosages? What makes up a heroic dose if you are using mg dosages at Oregon psilocybin Service Centers?
Gram dosage varies significantly depending on potency of psilocybin product. A “heroic dose” may be 2 grams or over five grams, thus mg potency dosage for the measurement of psilocybin is most accurate. Note: A microdose is 1/10 - 1/20th of a full dose of mushrooms.
Trivia Question #3: Does insurance cover psilocybin services at service centers?
Answer: No. While insurance coverage for traditional counseling with integrative services with a licensed therapist is possible, psilocybin facilitation is not covered.
Reasons: Since the 1970’s, Psilocybin is listed as a Scheduled 1 drug per the Federal Government, meaning that there is no medical benefit and a high addictive potential (even though research is showing otherwise). Most all insurance companies follow Medicare (Federal) billing guidelines requiring licensed providers provide and document services that are deemed medically necessary. Diagnostic and billing codes are required.
Setting considerations: Oregon by law mandates a non-medical model at licensed psilocybin service centers. The good news is no referral is needed, people can come for services for any reason, and the exclusion criteria is far less compared to a research or clinical setting. The downside is with the current legal status of psilocybin and varied backgrounds of licensed facilitators (some are dual licensed with advanced medical or mental health degrees, and others have a high school diploma), it is unlikely that insurances will cover psilocybin services in non-medical settings due to scope of practice considerations. Quite a few changes would need to occur on a Federal and State level for insurances to cover psilocybin facilitation in the future. Many believe this is a likely scenario in the years to come. In the meantime, EPIC / Radiant Heart offers a Pay-It-Forward program for discounted services. Contact us for an application.
Trivia Question #4: How to overcome the Stigma of seeking psilocybin services: Discussion - the appeal of seeking “above ground” (state-legalized) services vs underground or grey market?
Answer: We’ve come a long way since the propoganda commercials of an egg sizzling away in a frying pan, with a haunting voice: “This is your brain on drugs.” However, for many the stigma and fear still lingers, even though psilocybin is very safe for most people. Heather Shelton, one of EPIC / Radiant Heart Facilitators, provides a snapshot of who is seeking services at legalized Service Centers. What we’ve found is many are seeking a legalized setting due to an increased feeling of safety and to avoid possible legal ramifications.
Trivia Question #5: Does the EPIC Courtyard Tree have a name?
Yes, the tree’s name is Druid. A client made the eyes and nose as a gift to EPIC. The name came instantly to mind when a client asked Cathy what the tree’s name was.
Trivia Question #6: How Does Psilocybin (Psilocin) Work on the Brain?
The calming of the Default Mode Network (the conditioned mind) helps different parts of the brain that don’t normally communicate form new connections. This generates insight and positive change. While Calming the Default Mode Network is often faster with psilocybin; mindfulness, self-soothing strategies, and present moment awareness also help, and are important tools in the Integration process.
Trivia Question #7: What are some Easy Tips for Navigating a Psychedelic Experience?
Often the best strategy for navigating a psychedelic experience is to keep things simple: Relax the Body so the mind will also relax. Give positive messages to self. Use the breath. And, stay Curious. We often discuss and use mindfulness strategies to navigate a psilocybin experience. What have you found, discovered, or could ponder on how these strategies could be useful in daily life?
Trivia Question #8: How much does it take to “keep the lights on” at EPIC and for our Radiant Heart Facilitating Services?
Answer: It took over $60,000 to open the doors, with $75,000 in costs annually to meet our basic program needs. This includes rent, liability insurance, bookkeeping / tax accounting / legal fees, technology, internet, security, annual service center licensing fees, “Beyond the Trip” journals for client gifts, along with gardening supplies to keep EPIC’s outdoor space beautiful year round.
(Excludes staffing costs)
Trivia Question #9: What about EPIC / Radiant’s Pay-It-Forward Fund? How is this supported? How do I apply for financial assistance?
Answer: Since the inception of EPIC (our Service Center) and Radiant Heart (our Facilitation Program) beginning in June 2023, we established our Pay-It-Forward (PIF) programs, donating 5% of our revenue from each branch of our organization each month. With the addition of staff donations from facilitators discounting their rates, donations from our grower, and occasional donations from past clients and others, we’ve contributed over $130,000 towards client’s sessions. 100% of all donations received go towards client services. We’d love to help more people! Thank you for any support you can give.
Clients who are interested in applying for PIF assistance, contact us and we send them a PIF application. Applications are reviewed monthly by our PIF Team. This process can take 1 - 12 months depending on how many applications we receive, available funds, and individual circumstances.
