EPIC News Update, vol. 2

Hello to those on our waitlist and who have signed up for our newsletter. This update is to cover a few important updates which many people have been contacting us about.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. Are you open? Actually, we are not officially serving clients yet. We have been engaged in a soft business opening including having our staff act as clients, to test our process and also dosages. We have our first clients scheduled in the next few weeks.

We are also going into summer, so we have staff taking time off and still need to hire more staff.

2. I’m on the waitlist, when will I and/or my family get served? We have an extremely long waitlist, are a very small service center, and will not be able to serve everyone in a timely manner that has reached out to us. Please refer to updates put on the EPIC Healing Eugene blog, including information on how to stay informed and get updates on other Licensed Oregon Service Centers now available. It is anticipated that a growing number of other Service Centers will be available by Fall and Winter of 2023.

3. When can I book my flight to Eugene? Please do not book your flights until you have been accepted to EPIC Healing Eugene for services and a firm date has been agreed upon with one of our licensed facilitators who will be able to work with you.

4. My family member has tremendous mental health and/or medical issues. I am desperate for help as nothing has worked. Can they get moved up on the list? While we would like to help as many people as we can, what we offer is a non-medical model that is non-directive per OHA State Guidelines. We are not a medical or research setting. Those who come to us must be stable in their mental health and not require medically supervised monitoring.

5. What about your sliding scale and scholarship fund? Our Pay It Forward Fund awards sliding scale scholarships that discount services by $200-$500, depending on dosage. The Pay It Forward Fund is funded by donations. Unfortunately, at this time, the Pay it Forward Fund does not have enough money to offer scholarships. We can add you to the waitlist for this, when this changes, or you can check with larger service centers that have the ability to offer a variety of group services and discounts. We do not offer financial assistance for flights or lodging for our out of area guests. Click here to contribute to the Pay It Forward Fund.

6. When will you return my calls/emails? We have been overwhelmed by calls and emails, and we deeply apologize that we haven’t had a chance to reply to them in a timely manner. This is the reality of what happens when a small business gets national and international attention, and does not have the infrastructure in place or staffing to provide individualized attention to those not being actively served by us. We trust that when things settle down, and with other service centers opening, we will be able to add staffing to improve our communication process. Please continue to use the EPIC Healing Eugene Contact page for correspondence.

7. Since your waitlist is so long, what is your plan? We are considering a scoring and lottery system. We do want to consider fairness for those who are ready to be served on our waitlist, while taking into consideration good fit dynamics.

8. What would improve my chances of being chosen for EPIC Healing Eugene’s Services? It is helpful for us to know if a person is stable in their mental and medical health, and if a person is engaged in their own personal growth work, as those who are bringing these tools of resiliency into their session and have a plan for continuing with self-care and health-promoting practices following their session, are going to get more out of their session long-term. We do not guarantee a life changing, transformational shift. What you bring to your session in your ability to engage in a meaningful process of self-reflection is mostly what determines the type of experiences you have. Knowing that a person understands and has reasonable expectations, that they are engaging in a non-traditional non-medical model, is also helpful. If some of these issues are still in limbo for a person, it is possible there would be a delay in services with us.

9. Why is it taking you so long to open? What comes along with being first in this fully licensed, non-medical model is that we don’t have many other legal service centers to learn from. Other than a whole bunch of rules and regulations provided by OHA, we have to figure this out for ourselves. Every day is a new challenge to overcome, but we are making progress every day. We appreciate your patience!

One of the exciting things that we have been working on behind the scenes is setting up our sister company, Radiant Heart Consulting! Radiant Heart will allow us to better serve our clients and connect them with the services they are looking for. Stay tuned for more updates!

Please do know that EPIC Healing Eugene appreciates all the requests for services and for those interested in learning more about what we do. We will continue to work on our lottery and point system regarding our waitlist, which will introduce some potential options for those who only recently got on our wait list. We will slowly be reaching out to those whom we can serve, and continue to work on hiring staff to give more options for “good fit” facilitators.

Take good care.

Warmly,
Cathy Rosewell Jonas
